Kayakers Enjoy San Marcos River Beauty
Some of the trip sponsors left on Friday for the San Marcus River Retreat, but the majority of our group left about 7:00 am on Saturday Morning. Their day started with dreary, overcast skies, but turned out to be a beautiful day.
When the kayakers returned from their 4-hour trip down the river, Richard & Rona Wells along with Dave & Lyn Whittaker had a much appreciated meal of hamburgers and all the trimmings waiting for them.

Coming in June - Bring a Friend Day - June 6th.
We will celebrate our first anniversary as a church.
Watch for details in the church bulletin.

Daily’s Word
by Rev. Stephen Daily
The Bible is filled with many wonderful promises, and one of my favorites is the promise of rest. In Matthew 11:28-30, Jesus encouraged us to come to Him and find rest for our souls; He said: “Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy -laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and YOU WILL FIND REST FOR YOUR SOULS for My yoke is easy and My burden is light.’”
One source of this rest comes from knowing that our God will never leave us or forsake us (Hebrews 13:5), and another comes from knowing that God is sovereign over our lives. He has a plan that will ultimately result in our good and His glory (Romans 8:28). In fact, He already has some “good works” in mind that He wants us as individuals to accomplish. That is found in Ephesians 2:10 which says, “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.”
I have received a great deal of encouragement from these promises over this past year. With my library
in a climate-controlled warehouse, my office in my garage and a mobile church nursery packed away in our 1966 travel trailer, I have had a few times when I’ve honestly wanted to “get away.” Several things, however, have kept this temptation in check. For one, I go back to the fact that I sensed that this is what the Lord wanted me to do, and that the Lord began to open up some doors that made this ministry possible.
I also realize that God could have shut this project down in the early stages, or at any point along the way, but He did not do so.
In addition to this, He has continued to add people to our fellowship even while meeting in a funeral home and at an Elementary school. In fact, we really haven’t experienced any “dry spells” or “slumps” over this first year.
Our growth has been steady and consistent. Moreover, the resiliency of our core group has been outstanding; so, I want to let all of you know how much I appreciate your “stick-tuitiveness.” As a result of our F.A.I.T.H. Evangelism, we have also had seventeen professions of faith since September, and we have some baptisms scheduled this month. I am also delighted to say that we will have a baby dedication service on Mother’s Day.
Above all, I have found encouragement in God’s promise to guide those of us who seek Him earnestly and to fulfill His Divine plan which cannot be hindered. The Psalmist spoke for the Lord in Psalms 32:8, for example, and he said this; he said, “I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you should go; I will counsel you with My eye upon you.” God also spoke through the Prophet Jeremiah on one occasion, and He gave us this magnificent promise; He said, “‘For I know the plans that I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope.’” — Jeremiah 29:11
The late Dr. Adrian Rogers said it like this; He essentially said, “God’s will is not burdensome; it is what you would choose for yourself if you were smart enough to choose it.” I believe that; and enough to choose it.” I believe that; and enough to choose it.” I also believe that we will all look back in retrospect some day, and we will see how God’s mighty hand has performed a great work in and through us.
May God Richly Bless You,
Bro. Steve
