Scars That Heal

If you could display on the outside all the emotional scars that affect your life on the inside, how disfigured would you look? Would it be a pretty ugly sight? Even those who grew up in loving, Christian homes will tell you, “Yes, I know the scars are there because . . . “

For some people, the scars were caused by parents who didn’t know how to show love. For others, it was the feeling of rejection when they never had a date for the Friday Night football game or didn’t get invited to the school prom.

Sometimes wrong decisions cause scars that last a lifetime. Even as adults, rude or thoughtless people can cause scars by saying cutting things in jest because they think they are being funny.

Certainly each set of circumstances will be different, but God knows what it will take to heal the scars and restore each one to a vibrant, effective life-style that radiates His love.

From that first precious moment when you decided to accept the free gift of salvation provided by our Savior, God began the business of healing the scars in your life, causing new cells to grow that are part of the process that helps Him conform you to the image of His son.

Unfortunately He is frequently hindered in this healing process because of our own neglect to trust Him in all circumstances. Even though you have trusted Him for your salvation, have you learned to trust Him with the rest of your life?

So many times, when we pray, He is expected to perform “magic” without an effort on our part. In reality, what he wants is for us to diligently seek Him and His knowledge through daily Bible study. He has so much to tell us, but is hindered by the small amount of time we spend each week searching His Word for truths that will bring about the Spiritual growth that is necessary to heal our emotional scars.
